About Greater Houston Community Partners of Innovative Schools

Greater Houston Community Partners of Innovative Schools has an exciting opportunity for a Clerk I. The Clerk I will be an integral member of the TRIO Upward Bound's team and responsible for providing clerical and administrative support to our educational services division. The successful applicant must be able to work under general and with minimal supervision.

GRANT-FUNDED: The Clerk I position is grant-funded. This position will be funded solely (100%)  through August 31, 2027. At the end of the grant period, this position may be eliminated unless other sources of funds are secured to maintain this position or a similar position.

Position Description

Position Overview:

Provides administrative support to our educational planning division.


Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

Answer phones and take messages. Enter student data in the database. Contact applicants and parents to schedule meetings and/or obtain information. Assists the program staff with setup and takedown of workshops and meetings. Assists with new hire onboarding and personnel files. Assist with bank transactions and allocations and process travel requests. Order meals and supplies for workshops and programming. Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS


Experience/Education Requirements:


One year of relevant work experience is required. Clerical or administrative experience is strongly preferred. (Thirty (30) college hours can be substituted for work experience.)


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to work independently to organize, set priorities, and meet deadlines with general supervision. Ability to establish and maintain relationships students, parents and school staff. Evidence of strong organizational and professional skills. Must possess proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint or similar platforms).


PREFERENCES


Skills:

Preference will be given to individuals that have succeeded in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting the project’s targeted population. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is strongly preferred, but not required.

Reporting Relationship:

General supervision of clerical interns.

The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development are required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
